Teaching Listening by Using The Audio lingual Method

Abstrak :

The Audio lingual Method adalah salah satu langkah utama dalam metode mengajar bahas yang mana tetap pada tujuan utama dalam kemampuan berkomunikasi. Seorang guru dapat menggunakan metode ini dengan sangat baik dan secara umum dapat menciptakan siwa-siswa yang produktif. Dalam metode ini di butuhkan juga kemampuan-kemampuan yang dapat menunjang proses belajar mengajar antara lain ; speaking, listening, reading and writing. Pada metode ini tidak banyak mengajarkan vocabulary, melainkan lebuh banyak mengajarkan grammar. Dalam The Audio lingual Method, grammar sangat penting untuk siswa. Tapi siswa juga tidak meninggalkan vocabulary. Dalam prakteknya, seorang guru dapat menggunakan metode dengan sangat baik.

The Audio lingual Method is a method for teaching foreign language. The Audio lingual Method does not teach vocabulary. Rather, the teachers drill grammar. In this method, grammar is most important for student. In other words, the students don’t learn lost vocabulary.

Techniques

There may be techniques described below that you are already using or can adapt to your approach.

–          Dialog Memorization

–          Backward Build-up (expansion) Drill

–          Repetition Drill

–          Chain Drill

–          Single-slot Substitution Drill

–          Multiple-slot Substitution Drill

–          Transformation Drill

–          Question and Answer Drill

–          Use of  Minimal Pairs

–          Complete The Dialog

 

The Concept Of Teaching

Teaching is trying to keep the students motivation high (Finnochiaro, 1986 : 16)

In my article “Teaching Listening by Using The Audio lingual Method” it has relationship between teaching, teachers and learners. Teachers want their students to be able to use the target language communicatively.

The Concept of Listening

Concept of Listening is deigned primarily to help participants learn to listen more effective. Through specially designed exercise participants will develop techniques for increasing listening comprehension, relation, and recall that can be applied on the job.

The Concept of the Audio lingual Method

The audio lingual of language learning is also called the Aural-Oral Method. This method is said to result in rapid acquisition of listening and speaking skill. The audio lingual method drills the student in the use of grammatical sentence patterns.

Conclusion

The audio lingual method is a method for teaching foreign languages. The audio lingual method does not teach vocabulary. Rather, the teacher drills grammar. In this method, grammar grammar is more important for student.

In my title “: teaching Listening by Using Audio lingual Method”  it has the relationship between teaching, teachers and learners. The teachers try to keep the students and give motivation high.
